Sebastian Rojas (Instagram: @aregularpieceofasparagus) started his movement practice as a martial artist in 2003, and began teaching after he obtained his black belt in 2008. Martial arts provided Sebastian an understanding of the body and awareness that he later translated to aerials. He found his passion for aerial rope and straps, and developed his teaching style based on dynamic movement and a strong foundation in technique.

As a coach, Sebastian focuses on providing clear progressions to help students safely and effectively work toward dynamic skills with strength and precision. When he’s not traveling, you can find him teaching throughout the Detroit area, working to bring rope and straps into the spotlight!

Learn the acrobatic art of jumping through hoops! Hoop diving combines tumbling and partner acrobatic skills in a fun and unique discipline. In this workshop, students will build on basic tumbling skills and will learn how to dive, jump, twist, and roll through light-weight hoops at various heights.

Prerequisites:
Participants in this workshop should be comfortable with forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, kicking up to handstand (do not have to hold a handstand unassisted), and beginning dive rolls.

Taster Classes at Esh

Taster Classes at Esh are an opportunity to sample multiple circus arts before registering for a full session!

No experience or specific athletic ability is necessary – all levels are welcome!

Aerial Taster Classes

Aerial taster classes give students a chance to try several of the aerial arts offered at Esh before committing to a full session of classes. Students will have the chance to try aerial fabric (aka silks), aerial rope (aka corde lisse), static trapeze, and aerial hoop (aka lyra).
